American designer Robert Brou has sent us photos of Barnacle bench he has created. Attractive design with a unique shape of the bench is different from is others. Body made of maple wood 12 / 4 (3 “) is laminated together and then carved with various grinders and sanders. It is sitting on top of the foot eleven Ash painted purple. Each leg is set into the body at a slightly oblique angle is gives life piece by suggesting movement.
Description from the designer:
The design was entirely created in the moment while in the shop. The body is constructed of 12/4 (3?) Maple lumber that is laminated together and then sculpted with a variety of grinders and sanders. This sits atop eleven Ash legs that are dyed purple. Each leg is set into the body at a slightly canted angle that gives the piece life by suggesting motion. This work is the first to bridge the gap between simpler sculpted forms like the ‘Tree’ table and more complex multi leg forms like the ‘Urchin’ table.
