Evan Dublin, a recent industrial design graduate from the Pratt Institute, has sent us photos of his final project, the Slide Chair.
The inspiration for this project will begin by searching for ingredients in salvage yards. To find something that is reclaimed, some kind of inspiration or a component that will offer a problem to solve it by visiting the Build It Green in Astoria, Queens to see something inspiring, a big yellow slide jungle gym. The most interesting thing about the slide is the quality of funny that we already associate with the color, shape and material. I am interested in the concept of domesticating plastic slides into a useful object in the house. Through developing the concept of realizing language lent itself to form wing-back chair. Modernization really I want to hold the details that will translate the essence of the classic wing-back chairs. Details like fringe, finished patina on the wood and working-class hardware for the foot. Jonas workspace a handyman seat of midtown Manhattan, offered to sponsor the project and do all upholstery for free.
